Weekly Update
Hi GCN Family,
Here is what I’m realizing about our Exodus series: There is just no way to cover even 10% of the richness within the text on Sunday mornings. This is why I hope you’ll be a part of the Daily Bible Reading & Prayer Plan on the GCN Mobile App. Or, jump into a Life Group and find opportunities to dig in even more. I’d love to hear about what you are learning and applying to your life, from Exodus. Send me a message and let me know.
I’ll go first: This feels like only a subtext, but I’m blown away by the God-given creativity by Moses’ mother and sister in Exodus 2:1-10. Think about this, his mother technically obeys Pharaoh’s evil order to throw all Hebrew baby boys into the Nile. She puts Moses in a basket and places him in the Nile. So creative. Then, she has Moses’ sister follow the baby in a basket. I suspect there was strategy in making sure that basket floated to the place in front of Pharaoh’s palace. So creative! Pharaoh’s daughter happens to find Moses. Moses’ sister asks her if she’d like her to go get a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby. So creative! Then, what do you know, she goes and gets Moses’ very own mother to nurse Moses and raise him for the next couple years. Creative! Then, to top it off, Pharaoh’s daughter pays Moses’ own mother to pay her for what she was hoping to do anyway: nurse her baby and let him live. Amazing, God-given creativity!
Here is my prayer these days: God, by the power of your Holy Spirit, give your church imagination and creativity to fight against evil and injustice in our world and community. We pray for creativity and ingenuity in proclaiming the good news of Jesus to our neighbors and the people who cross our paths each day. Amen!
A few other notes:
Much love,
Pastor Brian

A few other notes:
- Again, don’t forget to sign up for a Life Group. The temptation is to isolate and become distracted by busy-ness. What we all need is community centered on the love of Jesus. That is what Life Groups are! Invite others to join you, too.
- Church Van Fundraiser. Thank you so much for being a part of this effort so far. Maybe I should say a special thanks to the prophetic words of Darrin Cave at the end of this past Sunday’s worship service! Our current total raised is $17,218.71. Our goal is a total of $20,000. So, we just need $2,781.29 to reach our goal. Plus, this Sunday we have an additional update regarding the church van. Please CLICK HERE to give today! (And select “Van Capital Campaign” on the drop-down menu).
- Pray for those among our GCN Family who are in need of physical healing: Bob Atkinson, Susan Hurd, Pam Wong, Tachiea Roland-Morris, and others.
- Pray for our mission to our neighborhood. Pray especially over our ministry with our Nursing Homes, our Food Distribution, our Stewartown After School Program, our Women’s Shelter Ministry, and our Pickleball and Basketball ministries.
Much love,
Pastor Brian
