Weekly Update

Hi GCN Family,

1. We are citizens of heaven.
2. Put it to prayer.
3. Fix your focus.

That was Apostle Paul’s message to the local church in Philippi in chapter 1 of his letter that we looked at on Sunday. Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, is so laser-focused on seeing people come to Jesus. Not even his jail cell conditions can distract him from it. In fact, in Philippians 1:12-14, it appears as if Paul is essentially saying: “Good news, friends! I’m in jail! Now, I have even more people who I can lead to Jesus. Praise God!”

I want that kind of laser-focus. Lord, fix our eyes on you. Remove distractions and idols from our lives. Fill us with your Spirit so that we are locked-in on our mission to lead people to Jesus.
 
A few other things:

1. Thanks for providing backpacks and school supplies for 75 kids in our neighborhood. All of our “Bees” were given out this past Sunday. Please bring back your backpacks and school supplies by this Sunday, August 17th. There will be a location in the lobby where you can leave those. This is how we embody the good news of Jesus to our neighborhood!
2. Interested in Baptism? If you have a relationship with Jesus but have not yet been baptized, I hope you’ll consider going public. Baptism Sunday will be Sunday, September 7th (Welcome Home Sunday). CLICK HERE to fill our the connect card and let us know (select “I’m interested in baptism”). Or, reach out to one of our pastors.
3. Welcome Home Sunday. Sunday, September 7th. This is the unofficial kick-off to fall! Here’s the key: Who are you inviting to join you for this special Sunday? We’ll have baptisms, a picnic afterwards with fun games. Plus our GCN Kids Sunday morning program and our Bible Studies and Classes will be back in full swing. Can’t wait!
