Weekly Update
Hi GCN Family,
Who is your Nathanael?
That was the question from this past Sunday. In John 1, Jesus is calling his first disciples to follow Him. Nathanael is suspicious of Jesus because Jesus is from Nazareth. He says, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Nathanael is pre-judging and stereotyping.
Jesus doesn’t react; He responds. He doesn’t see a skeptic or an insult; He sees a person in need of a Savior. With one sentence, Jesus turns a skeptic named Nathanael into a disciple who would eventually go to the ends of the earth to proclaim the good news of Jesus!
So, again: Who is your Nathanael? Who in your life is skeptical, or lonely, or in need of a relationship with Jesus?
Here is a 3-fold (plus a bonus!) challenge:
(1) Pray for that person.
(2) Fast on behalf of that person. (“Holy Spirit, create in me an insatiable hunger to see that person come to Christ.”)
(3) Look for opportunities to share the love and hope of Jesus with that person.
(BONUS) Invite that person or that family to join you on Easter Sunday on April 20th. So many people are looking for a place to belong. These days, people are more likely to belong before they even believe. By the power of the Holy Spirit in us, may we be a people to whom others can belong.
This Sunday, we continue in our series, Wilderness. Pastor Ben will be sharing the message! Really looking forward to that.
2 Other Things:
Much Love,
Pastor Brian
