Weekly Update

Hi GCN Family,

Jesus stood with his disciples on a hillside overlooking the sea of Galilee, a few weeks after his resurrection. We don’t know all the details of their conversation, but we do know that Jesus said this:

I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit…

Who left their fingerprints on your soul? Who showed you grace when you least deserved it and least expected it? Who led you to Jesus? Who discipled you? You following Jesus today is connected to Jesus’ Great Commission in Matthew 28. At some point, someone discipled someone who discipled someone who discipled someone who discipled you.

Be discipled.

Disciple someone.

Make disciples.

I often wonder if we’ve made following Jesus more complicated than Jesus intended.

Here’s why I bring it up: Be a part of the INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING DAY next Saturday (February 22). 1pm-4pm. Click Here for more info and to register. This is an important day. If you are breathing and desire to follow Jesus, this is for you. Please invite others to join you, too. Thank you for prioritizing it!

This Sunday, we continue in our series, Overcoming. Pastor Brian Remsch, from Restoration Church in Frederick, will be sharing about overcoming doubt. God is not put off by your doubt. Don’t believe me? Just read about Thomas in John 20. If He is not put off by doubt, then that means that we’re called to be a church who is a safe place for people to ask questions. May it continue to be so!

Hey, just a personal note: I’m so grateful to be your pastor. I loved the opportunity to be with City on a Hill Church in Savage, MD this past Sunday, and I’m looking forward to being with the people of Restoration Church in Frederick this coming Sunday. However, there is nothing like you, family. I found myself bragging on you in my conversations after the worship service last week. I’m just grateful to be on this mission of God, called GCN, with all of you.

Much Love,

Pastor Brian
