A Grumbling Stomach Faith

What are the odds that the King would offer Esther anything she wanted just as her people desperately needed help? What are the odds that the King would be reminded how Mordecai saved his life the same night Haman was plotting to kill him? What are the odds that coincidence after coincidence kept happening as all throughout the nation, God’s people, fearful for what tomorrow might bring, were fasting for Esther?

When God’s people commit to drawing near to God by fasting, the ability to discern what God is doing grows, even as stomachs grumble and hunger increases. It’s rarely comfortable, but fasting can shift our imaginations to dream bigger and bolder about what God might do with the situations we face. We pray that God would deepen our hunger for a move of God’s Spirit here and now… for such a time as this.

Did reading through the book of Esther make you hungry (pun intended) for more stories of God at work? GCN on July 13th will be the place to be! We look forward to hearing about our team’s trip to Honduras and all the ways God is working through Cocal Gracias right where they are.

Blessings to you, GCN family!
