Weekly Update
GCN Family,
God came to Jeremiah. He reminded Jeremiah that He created him. He knows him. He is calling him. He is setting him apart as a prophet.
And Jeremiah’s response to God saying all of that is: “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” (Jeremiah 1:6)
We’re not sure exactly what’s going through Jeremiah’s head, but it sounds like he’s letting his voice of fear and insecurity have a louder voice in his life than the voice of God.
So many times in the Bible, God (or sometimes an angel of God) shows up to someone who is scared, and the first words out of God’s mouth is “Do not be afraid!”
Is there any fear or insecurity in your life that is keeping you from doing what God is uniquely calling you to do?
I bet for many of us, the answer is yes. Maybe the first step is to be still, eliminate distractions, and take time to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit. What is God calling you to?
If there’s any fear or hesitation, this is where the Holy Spirit comes in. 1 John 4:18 says “Perfect love casts out all fear.” You’re not going to overcome fear (or whatever your struggle is) by trying really hard to not be afraid. I think the only way to overcome fear is to step into it, filled with the Holy Spirit. He casts out all fear. Trust Him.
And by the way, you are loved by the One who created you. Receive His love today.
